The 12th September saw the 17th Anniversary of La Fundación Cigarra and the opening of its new ‘Greta Thunberg’ building.
In the words of the founder Carolyn Acosta: ‘This building symbolises the care and protection that we owe our planet. It is made with the containers that were used by the Pre-School (Kinder and Transition) of Saint George’s School, during the construction of their new building. In this way we are helping to reduce the amount of waste generated by the actions, ‘Reduce, Reuse, Recycle.’
The building was finished with a very generous donation from the Association of Private Education, ASOCOLDEP whose director Maria Belén Jimenez was present on the day of the opening.
The Music Programme of the Foundation is supported by students of Saint George’s School who have donated musical instruments and by the dedication of experienced teachers. We are committed to helping to create a more equitable society through Music, Art and Education.
It was a lovely day for all as the Fundación Cigarra not only provides quality care but it is also a space of peace and tranquillity for the young and elderly alike for which all are very grateful.
