The school selects students to participate in different pedagogical models that simulate different organizations like the United Nations, European Union and Colombian National Congress. Students, following diplomatic procedures take the role of delegates from different countries or political parties to represent them in discussions. They search for possible solutions to the global problems of today and take part in diplomatic debates about environmental commissions, human rights, socio-economic and political issues, among other topics.
Participation in these models allows students to expand their breadth of knowledge about major global issues, and improve their research skills and speaking and argumentation skills. It also facilitates dynamic integration and socialization with students from other schools, other regions, and other nationalities.
SGSMUN (Saint George´s School´s United Nations Model)
Since the year 2011, the school has had its own internal UN Model called SGSMUN, so that all students in eighth and ninth grades can become familiar with this dynamic theme and learn in an empirical way. We always have access to an Economic Commission, an Ecological Commission and English and French Commissions. This activity is supported by the Language Departments, the Department of Social Studies, the library and the area of Communications and Public Relations.
