Admissions start every year on the second Friday of September and continue throughout the months of September, October and November until places are filled. All information is available on the School website www.sgs.edu.co
We also offer parents three or four Open Mornings that include a tour of the School. The dates are on our Admissions web page. For further information please contact the School, email: admisiones@sgs.edu.co or call us on (571) 4324020 or (571) 4324000 or mobile phone 3012485953
The child should be three years old when applying. Entry into Pre-Kinder, the following August is at age four.
Entry is mainly into Pre-Kinder. If there are places available at other levels, at the end of the academic year, you will be informed and each case is treated individually.
The School offers 120 places in Pre-Kinder. As these places are assigned on a weekly basis, it is important to apply in the first weeks of the Admissions Process.
We like to get to know the applicant and the family. During the Recreational Morning, in a warm and friendly atmosphere, we observe the child’s potential and the abilities that can be developed to facilitate his/her entry into school. The information is shared with the parents to help guide them to the needs of their child before entry into formal education. The duration is approximately 2 hours.
Only the children applying who have no link to the SGS Community (relatives or children of alumni).
It is advisable but not obligatory. Our wish is that parents should hear other families’ views regarding the School following the information obtained during the Open Morning.
Not as such. The School has instead adopted the Cambridge Assessment International Education that is the British equivalent of the IB, the Matura (Suisse International Baccalaureate), the Abitur (German International Baccalaureate) and the BAC ( French International Baccalaureate).
In this way, students are provided with a comprehensive education which allows them to take the IB and international exams to obtain certificates and degrees that are recognised by national and international universities. Our students graduate with access to the world’s top universities, as has been demonstrated throughout the years.
We believe that homework is complementary to the education of a student. On an individual basis, a student can put into practice what has been learnt by carrying out exercises, research and projects.
Homework is for the students and does not require the involvement of parents. The idea is for the student to develop autonomy and confidence. Homework consolidates what has been learnt in the classroom and is therefore not marked.
Additionally, homework develops lifelong skills such as planning, time management, teamwork, and good study habits.
As part of our educational policy, students have a ‘Homework Folder’ to help organize and keep track of homework and prevent any excesses.
