The seventh version of our SGSMUN United Nations Model of Saint George´s School, organized by the World Model Club, culminated successfully with the participation of all 8th and 9th graders. Some 7th grade students did the role of Floor Secretaries.
The event was held on Tuesday, March 14, 2017 and the closure ceremony was held the next day. During the inauguration we had the speech of our school Director, Simón Acosta, and the guest speaker, an SGS mother, who told us about the role of women in post-conflict and some of the situations of women in the world. (Caterina is a lawyer from Rosario University, with a Master’s degree in Public International Law and a European Doctorate in Research for Peace and International Humanitarian Law. She works in the Council of State as auxiliary magistrate – third section).
This year the Model had 8 commissions: two in English, five in Spanish and, as always, one in French and Spanish. These were as follows:
UN WOMEN: Women’s role in politics after conflict.
SECURITY COUNCIL: The Kurds: Are they a nation?
COMMISSION COLOMBIA: Peace Process
FUTURIST COLOMBIA: Post-conflict: Colombia in 2027
