The Saint George’s School Symphonic Band will represent Bogotá in the XXV National Music Band Competition, youth category, that will take place from the 2^nd to  4^th November in Anapoima.

The ‘Pedro Ignacio Castro Perilla’ National Band Competition that takes place every year, is one the major musical festivals in the country. The competition seeks to encourage, publicize and strengthen the Colombian musical heritage, its popular and traditional music and the music of its bands.

25 bands from all over the country take part in the following 4 categories: Children, Youth, Senior and Symphonic.

Youth Category:

Saint George’s School Symphonic Youth Band / Bogotá

Cajicá Symphonic Youth Band/ Cundinamarca

Aránzazu Symphonic Youth Band / Caldas

Moniquirá Symphonic Youth Band / Boyacá

El Penol Symphonic Youth Band / Narino

There will also be an award for the best interpretation of an unedited work by the composer Francisco Zumaqué. SGS band will perform their own interpretation of the piece ‘Candó,’ specially composed for our group by Zumaqué.
