Mauricio Lozano Grad. 91 and eleventh grade student Sofía Mahecha are part of this achievement.

‘Claraluna receives Grammy Award.’   ‘35 stars from Suba win the Grammy Latino,’ ‘Clara Luna, Silvestre Dangond and Carlos Vives win first Grammy for Colombia,’ were some of the headlines on the morning of Thursday, 15^th November.

With 4 nominations, the first in 2008, followed by 2011 and 2016. The fourth nomination on 14^th November 2018, saw a dream come true for the team and its managers Mauricio Lozano and Alejandra Sierra. Finally, the recognition of 23 years of hard work and dedication to music. ‘Imaginaré’ was produced by David Zuluaga and Mauricio Lozano,

Mauricio, a former student, graduated in 1991, is the manager and founder of ‘Claraluna’ who with his wife Alejandra Sierra, have dedicated their lives to coaching young people in the wonderful world of music, theatre and dance. Over the last few years Mauricio has been associated with the School, first as a music teacher and now as the director of the Christmas Show. Such has been its success that it is now performed in the Teatro Mayor Julio Mario Santo Domingo, for the general public.

We congratulate the whole team of Claraluna, for placing the name of Colombia on high and Mauricio and Alejandra for guiding these young people and making their dreams come true. But we specially congratulate Sofia Mahecha our eleventh-grade student, who has been part of this endeavour for the last four years and was present at the 2016 nominations.

Sofia began in the workshop of Claraluna when she was 13 years old and went on to become part of the cast. She dedicates 3 or 4 days to doing what she most enjoys: dancing, acting and singing. This she alternates with her responsibilities at School. ‘It can be a bit difficult managing both things because they both require commitment and dedication, but doing what I enjoy makes this possible’; this award makes her very happy. Sofia is also one of the main characters in the Christmas Show.
