On 3rd March we celebrate World Wildlife Day. The theme this year: ‘Support forest communities and conserve forest wildlife, forests and livelihoods.’ It highlights the central role that forests, forest species and ecosystems have in sustaining the livelihoods of millions of people across the world. Between 200 and 350 million people depend on these for energy, water, food, medicines and shelter.
The loss of biodiversity, climate change and the health crisis created by Covid- 19 has endangered the livelihoods of many communities. It is these who provide the knowledge and promote the practices needed for the conservation of the forests, wild fauna and flora and the ecosystems.
The Ecological Committee invites you to reflect on what can be done to preserve the forests and support the communities. To follow are some messages to inspire you and wild life videos recorded in a nature reserve the School has in La Argentina, Huila. There, we ensure the conservation of the ecosystems by working in harmony with the local communities.
