She will discuss the origins, major books and authors that have contributed to the development of picture books in Colombia. This event is sponsored by the Banco de la Republica, in the context of online seminars on Children’s and Young People’s Literature in Colombia and Risaralda.

Juliana Capasso graduated in 2003 and is the author and illustrator of books for children and young people. After obtaining a degree in Art from the Andes University, she got a Master’s in Illustrations for books for Children and Young People from Cambridge University. She has been awarded several international prizes for her illustrations as well as reviewing children’s books for publication, for the Editorial Planeta and the Universidad Autónoma.
Juliana received an award from FilBo Emprende, for the publication of her Pegatina project: Sticker Books in pixel art, that named it one of the top 20 emerging editorial projects in the country. She has likewise worked with Picnic de Palabras, to promote free quality picture books in parks of the city. She is currently a lecturer in Children’s and Young People’s Literature, specialising in Children’s Illustrations, at the Javeriana University.
