Today 15th May is the 100th anniversary of the birth of the founder of our School Mrs. Mary Allen de Acosta. She will always remain in our hearts and for those of you who never met her, her memory will be kept alive through stories and anecdotes. Above all we recall her devotion to children and their education.
In the words of one of her students, Camilo Duque, 10th Grade 1987:
A Dream Come True
We have many reasons to thank God for what we have and now we add one more.
We are the protagonists of a dream that a woman had 30 years ago when she founded Saint George’s School.
Mary Allen de Acosta was born in Wales, in the United Kingdom. It was her marriage to the Colombian Engineer Hernando Acosta that brought her to this country. With her wisdom, her strong work ethics and her deep religious convictions, she is an example to us all.
Mrs. Acosta has made our School a home where religious and moral values underpin everything we do. We are proud and grateful to this remarkable woman for the education that we have received and for guiding us and helping us to grow and to develop.
