Adriana Ballesteros, maths teacher in Saint George’s School recently published a book ‘Uso de recursos tecnológicos en la escuela primaria’ (Technology Resources in Primary School). The book demonstrates how teachers implement technology in the classroom and how this aids the learning process. This publication is the result of the thesis that Adriana wrote for a Master’s Degree in Education in the field of Cognitive Development.
Adriana is passionate about the investigation and analysis of teaching methods and the ways in which teachers apply them in Primary. She has been a maths teacher in SGS for more than 10 years, attached to the programme PIPE (An Institutional Project on Teaching Strategies based on Ways of Learning and Significant Learning).
This study was carried out with the assistance of three SGS Primary teachers (third, fourth and fifth grades) who allowed their lessons to be observed and provided her with the relevant information. The method used was based on case studies and benefit analysis as well as the thoughts and opinions of the teachers regarding the use of technology in an innovative context. The study showed how this was integrated into the teaching practices and how the students responded in a positive way. In addition, the teacher’s behaviour (strengths and weaknesses) when faced with new situations and changes was evaluated.
We congratulate Adriana for this big undertaking and we invite you to read her book: Uso de recursos tecnológicos en la escuela primaria’.
