We invite everyone to take part in our Bird Watching Day. Start as early as possible and go to a nearby park or wood. The best times are between 5.00 – 7.00 a.m. and 5.00 – 6.30 p.m. Take binoculars, if you have a pair. Look carefully in the branches, the tops of the trees and on the ground. Write down all the bird species you see; if you can, note their activities, if in groups, if young, adults etc. To help identify them, use the book, Magia Silvestre, or look at the eBird app on line.
Bird surveys are important for monitoring the state of bird populations and ecosystems. They can also help science, so better decisions can be made to take care of our planet.
You are all invited to carry out the following Eco- Challenge:
Sow seed or seedling of a tree (native) to our region and nurse it until it becomes a young tree. You can find seeds in parks and woods and seedlings in garden centres. Change bag as tree grows. Once height of 70 to 100 cm has been reached, the tree can be planted in the ground. Seek a place where you can watch over it; perhaps near your home or a finca with a similar climate. When replanting, ensure hole is deep enough for tree, bag and additional soil. The soil should be watered. Check for cables, pipes, pavements so they will not be affected by roots.
It is even better if you can plant more than one tree!

We hope you will enjoy and learn more about nature from this challenge. Remember the first step towards caring for nature is to become better acquainted with it.
