On 10th May, SGS will be concentrating all activities on ways of finding new methods to better the academic standard of the School and consequently there will be no classes.
Since 2015 it has been the objective of Colombia to be the country with the best education. With this in mind, the Ministry of Education has designated ‘E-Day’ for all the educational establishments to analyse the results obtained in ‘The Synthetic Index for Education Quality’ (ISCE) and to use them as an evaluation and to improve with regard to the previous year.
‘E- DAY’ for the Family will take place on 17th May to which parents attend.
The ISCE uses the results of the ‘Pruebas Saber’- Knowledge Tests- as a reference point, but also takes into account the scores for the four components: Progress, Performance, Effectiveness and School Environment. Together these form the overall result awarded by the ISCE.
Firstly, Progress, shows how far the school has progressed since the previous year. Secondly, Performance indicates the average grades obtained by students in maths and language in the ‘Knowledge Tests’. Efficiency, indicates the number of students who passed the year and progress to the next grade. Lastly and most important School Environment evaluates the favourable conditions conducive to learning. The idea is to see the four components as one and to manage a balance between them.
This is the way in which the school progresses and continues to provide the best quality education.
