Because we are committed to the importance of setting an example in environmental awareness, Saint George’s School is an Urban Nature Reserve affiliated to RESNATUR Asociación Red Colombiana de Reservas Naturales de la Sociedad Civil. We have a wetland which is approximately 100 square meters and a forest inhabited by many species of birds. Additionally, throughout our campus we enjoy large wooded areas and gardens that oxygenate and beautify our environment and in which we can see many species of flora and fauna.
What is RESNATUR?
This association is made up of people (a social network of farmers, NGOs, landowners and conservation projects in rural or urban communities), who voluntarily declare their farms or land to be Private Nature Reserves. These areas are intended for conservation and the aim is to protect the life that inhabits them and to encourage renewal and increase the cultural value. It aims also to allow the reproduction of useful and endangered species, and to promote sustainable development through the pursuit of social, economic and technological alternatives that have positive impacts on nature and can improve the quality of life of its inhabitants and its neighbors.
Everybody in the association, according to their education, circumstances and the characteristics of their land, is committed to the principles of respect for life in all its forms and diversities. They all adhere to tolerance, solidarity and reciprocity, gender and inter-generational equality, autonomy, and democracy. Find more information at: http://www.resnatur.org.co
