We are very proud to announce the success of our students in the National Computer Science Olympiad that took place in the Antonio Nariño University on the 27th October. This Olympiad is aimed at secondary students who show an ability with algorithms and computer science. It is divided into two levels: Level One, for students from sixth to ninth grade and the Higher Level for tenth and eleventh grade students.
Alvaro Andrés Bacca Pena (1st place) and Luis Felipe Torres Galvis (2nd place) both ninth grade students, were the winners of the Olympiad, Level One. To obtain these results they were faced with increasingly more challenging tests and they had to find the solutions using programming language. First Stage: the ‘Qualifying Test’ for which they used basic programming tools such as writing formulas, cycles and the use of characters.
Second Stage: The ‘Semi-final Test’ involved using computer language to solve more complex problems. Final Stage: they were given two tests which involved two days of training and two days to resolve them.
The Olympiad also seeks to motivate students to pursue the study of computer science and to nurture those with this talent at an early age. A special mention for the eleventh-grade student Natalia Pulido, for her excellent performance in the Higher-Level Category.
Due to their outstanding performance, our students have been invited to participate in the training that will take place in January; the best will be selected to represent Colombia in the International Olympiad.
We congratulate our students for their achievements that reflect so positively on our School.
