We study and design our Values Programme according to our own needs and principles. These are:
Core values:
This refers to a permanent growth in the development of our students’ full potential, and in how they can use their knowledge to contribute to building a better and more just world for all. The plan mainly promotes school values: wisdom, inner harmony, sense of achievement, freedom and world peace.
- Wisdom: The ability to choose what is appropriate and correct regarding self and others.
- Internal Harmony: The state of personal balance that is achieved by the coherence between what we think, say and do.
- Sense of achievement: The decision to achieve proposed goals both in personal life and in a way that contributes to the wider world.
- Freedom: The responsibility over own independent decisions that are made based on the knowledge and awareness of the implications of our actions, motivations and limitations.
- World peace: The state of collective harmony that is built with the ongoing search for better ways of universal coexistence, without resorting to violence and injustice.
Instrumental values:
In accordance with core values, the students are educated to be: honest, open-minded, self-disciplined, respectful, tolerant, responsible, courageous, persevering, responsible, polite and loyal.
- Honesty: This is shown in the rigour and sincerity of all individuals.
- Open-Minded: Having an open and globalized mind that goes beyond own interests and environment to understand others.
- Self-disciplined: Is reflected in the achievement of goals and objectives as a result of the ability to manage one’s behaviour positively and in a self-controlled way.
- Respectful: To treat others in a friendly and courteous way that facilitates interpersonal relationships, creates an atmosphere of cordiality, avoids offenses and solves conflicts without violence. To care for and conserve all forms of life.
- Tolerant: Respect for differences of opinion, race, gender, religion; accept the limitations of self and others, while recognizing the virtues of both.
- Responsible: To be accountable for one’s own actions and duties in a manner consistent with own principles. This manifests itself in the ability to meet various commitments made.
- Courageous: Consistency in living by one’s values, especially in the personal dilemmas that involve high costs.
- Persevering: Means being constant and accepting challenges without giving up, in order to achieve goals.
- Proficient: To be capable and effective.
- Polite: To show good manners and social awareness in all situations.
- Loyal: To be faithful to ones own principles and the commitment towards others ( family and society ) to be able to protect the values they represent.
