Saint George’s School Symphonic Band will represent Bogotá in the XXVI National Music Band Competition (Youth Category) that will take place in Anapoima from 1st to 3rd November.
The National Music Band Competition ‘Pedro Ignacio Castro Perilla’ is one of the major music festivals in the country. Its aim is to promote, publicize and strengthen the musical heritage of Colombia, its popular and traditional music and the music of its bands.
Over 25 bands will be competing in four categories: Junior, Youth, Senior and Symphonic.
The following bands will take part in the Youth Category:

Turmequé Symphonic Youth Band/ Boyacá

Second place in the Youth Category in 2016
Award for best performance of the unpublished music piece ‘Sabor a Fiesta’ by the composer Jesus Orielso Jácome –
Junior/ Youth Category 2016
Award for best performance of the unpublished music piece ‘Candó’ by the composer Francisco Zumaqué – Junior/Youth Category 2018
This year our band will play for the first time the music piece ‘Agua Pal Rio’ by the composer Victoriano Valencia, specially commissioned by the School.
We wish our students all the best and we hope many families will be present to support our Symphonic Band.
